Sun City -The Valley of the Waves

From Cape Town we flew back to Jo'burg to stay with a friend Jeff met 20 years ago.  Her name is Carin Holmes and she is a minister in The Salvation Army.  She works at Territorial Headquarters in Jo'burg and is the Director of Public Relations.  She handles organising events, gives media statements on particular issues (Oscar Pistorius was one of those statements), has handled bits on human trafficking and is just a very funny person over all.

If you have seen the movie "Blended" with Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore, you will know that most of the film was based at the Palace of the Lost City at Sun City with the Valley of the Waves.  So after seeing this movie, Chloe & I just had to go there.  It looked amazing on the movie, but have to say I was a bit disappointed.

I thought there were 'dry' rides as well as your normal wet rides, but was bitterly disappointed that there wasn't.  Wet rides - Yes, but only 6 - and they get pretty lame quickly..

I must say though, it was pretty exciting to see the Valley of the Waves - it looked incredible and amazing and spewing that we couldn't stay at the Palace for a night. I (we) really would have felt like royalty.

Sun City is located on the border of the Pilanesberg National Game Park, just a short 2hr drive from Carin's home.

Temple of Courage slide - YES, both Jeff & I took the courage to slide.. Never again!
When all these spit out water, it creates a 2m wave - very fun!
The wave going through - hence it's called "Valley of the Waves"

What goes up:

We went for a walk through a rainforest

Jeff trying to find out where we are...
